🍎 ABOUT ACAPA 🍎

WELCOME to the GREATEST SPORT ON EARTH!!! The American Competitive Apple Picking Association (ACAPA) was founded in 1987 by legendary picker Harold "Big Stem" Kowalski of Vermont after he realized that apple picking was WAY MORE EXCITING than anyone gave it credit for!!!

Today, ACAPA governs competitive apple picking across all 50 states with THOUSANDS of registered athletes competing every year!!! Our rigorous scoring system judges competitors on FOUR MAIN CATEGORIES:

CATEGORY	MAX POINTS	DESCRIPTION
🏃 SPEED SCORE	40 pts	How many apples picked in the 60-second sprint round. Each apple = 2 points. STEM MUST BE INTACT!!!
🤲 TECHNIQUE SCORE	25 pts	Judges score your picking form. Proper roll-and-snap technique is required. NO YANKING ALLOWED!!!
🍎 APPLE QUALITY SCORE	25 pts	Each apple is inspected for bruising, stem integrity, and ripeness. Bruised apples = POINT DEDUCTIONS!!!
🧺 BASKET PRESENTATION	10 pts	YES WE JUDGE YOUR BASKET ARRANGEMENT!!! Judges look for uniformity, color balance, and visual appeal of the final bushel!!!

TOTAL POSSIBLE SCORE: 100 POINTS PER ROUND!!!

Teams compete in rounds of 3 pickers per team. The combined score wins the match! Simple as that!!!

🥇 Harold "Big Stem" Kowalski Burlington, VT • Active: 1987–2009 *FOUNDER of ACAPA. All-time record holder with 847 apples in 60 seconds (1998). Won 12 National Championships. Invented the "Double-Snap Wrist Roll"* technique still used today. INDUCTED 2010.**	🥇 Dolores "The Machine" Fujimoto Yakima, WA • Active: 1994–2015 First woman to win 5 consecutive National titles (2001–2005). PERFECT SCORE (100/100) at the 2003 Nationals — never done before or since!!! Known for her legendary basket presentation skills. INDUCTED 2016.
🥇 Beaumont "Bushel King" Tremblay Hudson Valley, NY • Active: 1999–2018 All-time leader in career tournament wins (47 victories). Led the Bushel Brigade to 4 team championships. Famous for picking with BOTH HANDS simultaneously with equal speed. Nicknamed "Two-Gun Tremblay" by fans!!! INDUCTED 2019.	🥇 Ethel Mae "Granny Thunder" Perkins Hendersonville, NC • Active: 1991–2014 Competed professionally until age 72 years old!!! Founded Granny's Army which still competes today. Her apple quality scores were NEVER below 23/25. The greatest Technique scorer in ACAPA history. INDUCTED 2015.
